The Georgetown Scholars Program

The Georgetown Scholars Program (GSP) welcomes GU Retirees, faculty, and staff who may be interested in mentoring students, joining informal conversations with students, or joining the GSP “Project Move In”.

The Georgetown Scholars Program was founded in 2004 and has served over 2600 students and graduates, most of whom were first-generation in their families to attend college, since the program’s inception. Currently, the GSP family provides programmatic support for over 650 undergraduates. GSP’s mission is to work towards a more equitable college experience for first-generation and low-income college students.  GSP students proudly hold a 94% graduation rate.

Project Move-In is designed to benefit first-year students who arrive at Georgetown unaccompanied by family or friends. Volunteers meet students at the airport or train station, make a positive first impression and help them get settled into their dorms. Project Move In for 2026 will be August 14-21. Interested volunteers must have an affiliation (alumni, supporter, staff, etc.) with GSP or Georgetown.

Students are eligible to sign up for a mentor beginning their sophomore year. Mentors help students to network, learn about career paths, navigate the college experience, and the job search process. Mentors make themselves available to talk about whatever questions students may have throughout their time at Georgetown.
