Membership

Main Campus

Upon their retirement, all faculty, staff, academic and administrative personnel (AAPs) of Georgetown University are thereby eligible to become members of the Georgetown University Association of Retired Faculty and Staff (GUARFS). They become members by notifying the Association’s treasurer and paying the Association’s dues -- a $20 check payable to GUARFS and sent to Georgetown University Association of Retired Faculty and Staff, 3700 O Street, NW, Box 571415, ICC, Washington, DC 20057.   If you have questions about dues you can contact Mary Anne Mahin at mahinm@georgetown.edu.

Medical School

The following groups -- a) Full time, part-time faculty and staff paid at GUMC; b) Full time and part time paid faculty at GUSOM affiliates; and c) Clinical faculty with GUSOM appointments at any GU hospital teaching site including hospitals, clinics or doctors’ offices -- are eligible for membership in GUARFS, subject to:

  1. Attained the age of at least 55

  2.  At least ten years of meritorious teaching or meritorious service

  3. Application: Name, highest level of academic GUSOM rank or staff position, years and dates of service, and the year of retirement.

  4. Additional information (one of the following): 

    • Vicennial Medal year and silver or gold;

    • OR CV with years and highest rank of GUSOM appointment;

    •  OR a letter verifying application employment information from past or present Department or Division Chair, or a current member of GUARFS;

    • OR any other document verifying GU employment e.g. retirement plan etc.

  5. They become members by submitting both their application (plus information), and a $20 check payable to GUARFS (the Association’s dues) to Georgetown University Association of Retired Faculty and Staff, 3700 O Street, NW, Box 571415, ICC, Washington, DC 20057.   If you have questions about dues you can contact Mary Anne Mahin at mahinm@georgetown.edu.
